When evacuating a building it is imperative that the evacuation is efficient. In order for everyone to be familiar with the procedure – it is vital to rehearse the evacuation from time to time.
Important guidelines for using a MODUM Fire Escape Ladder:
MODUM Fire Escape Ladder should be checked at least once a year.
Make sure that the Ladder is securely mounted to the wall and that it opens when the release pin is pulled out. The ladder opens with its own weight. If this is not the case, pull it open and close the Ladder several times until it is working correctly.
If the ladder has multiple release stations, the bottom section must open first, then the next second, until all stations are checked.
If the ladder does not open by itself or by an easy pull, open the ladder carefully but with the necessary force, then clean it with water (without cleaning agent) and a brush. Then re-check if the ladder opens by its own
weight. If the ladder still does not work, please call the installer.
Optional: The safety harness is available and functioning, and the user guide must be clearly visible.
